The Safety at Work Card Online is organised as distance learning, i.e. the course is delivered as instructor-led online training via the Teams programme. The duration of the training is seven (7) hours + exam.

Participation in training:

The Occupational Safety Card training will give you a basic understanding of the key principles and practices of occupational safety. This one-day training will help you identify workplace risks, prevent accidents and create a safer working environment for all employees.

Training content:

1. the principles of health and safety in the workplace

  • Joint action on occupational safety and health and safety planning
  • Employer and employee rights and obligations
  • Induction, guidance and interaction

2. Occupational hazards and stress factors

  • Identification and assessment of occupational hazards and stress factors
  • Content and significance of the most common and significant hazards
  • Content and significance of the most common and significant stress factors
  • Hazardous chemicals and exposures

3. Principles of safe and healthy working practices

  • The zero accident principle and causes of accidents
  • Prevention and anticipation
  • Safe and healthy working environment and conditions
  • Hazardous, unauthorised and exceptional work tasks and their design

4. The role of human activity in occupational safety

  • The role of individual action and human factors
  • Safe working methods and equipment
  • Dealing with near misses, accidents and incidents
  • The impact of accidents at work on the individual's immediate family, the workplace and society

5. Final examination

After passing the exam, the trainee will be issued with an electronic mobile card. The qualification is valid for five years. The printed green plastic card can be ordered from the Centre for Occupational Safety and Health's card information service.

After the training

The aim of the occupational safety training is to improve practical cooperation in the joint workplace between the contracting and supplier companies, to provide basic information on occupational safety and health, to arouse interest and motivation in occupational safety skills and to aim to reduce accidents at work, hazardous situations and harmful strain. The training also aims to reduce duplication of training between different contractors.

A person who has completed OSH card training knows the roles and responsibilities of common workplace actors, can identify workplace hazards and harmful stress factors, and is able to adopt workplace and task-specific familiarisation at their workplace.

Occupational safety card test

A final examination will be held at the end of the safety card training. The test will always consist of alternating randomly selected questions. There will be about 20 true/false questions and about 10 verbal questions. To pass the exam you must score around 80% of the maximum number of points. If you do not pass the test, you can retake it twice. After that, if you fail the test, you will have to repeat the whole training.
